  1. As of February 13, 2008 H-GAC is no longer accepting applications for The Rita Restoration Program.

  2. Additional funding may become available through The Texas Department of Housing Homeowner Assistance Program. You may call 1-877-839-4477 for assistance.

  3. Applicants who submitted applications to H-GAC prior to February 13, 2008 may contact us @ 1-877-442-2777 to check on the status of their application.


The H-GAC Rita Restoration Program is for those whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Rita, which made landfall on September 24, 2005. Participation is limited and specifi c eligibility requirements apply.

Do you qualify for Rita Restoration?
  • Are you a homeowner whose primary residence was damaged by Hurricane Rita?
  • Is your home still damaged and in need of repair?
  • Are you unable to repair the damage with aid from FEMA, insurance, or other sources of assistance?
  • Is your home in one of the following eight counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Walker?
  • Are you a low to moderate income household?
